The first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid of what you don’t.
I’ve been so afraid to speak my mind. I was afraid my thoughts would hurt others, but by protecting others, I was hurting myself. I was also afraid that once I spoke freely, others would judge me. It is true, once your thoughts escape your tongue, you are naked. It’s worth it though.
Find the courage to confront your mother about how she doesn’t support your dreams, find the courage to rid yourself of that toxic boyfriend/girlfriend, find the courage to tell your friend that he/she doesn’t lend an open ear, and find the courage to be true to yourself.
Once we do, we open ourselves to the possibility of harsh words, and heart ache, but believe me, it’s worth it. Because even if you open the door to a cruel ending, you also open the door to a brighter future. Don’t be afraid. Have courage.
