Film Recommendation: The Final Girls // Monday Inspiration #2

A young woman grieving the loss of her mother, a famous scream queen from the 1980s, finds herself pulled into the world of her mom’s most famous movie. Reunited, the women must fight off the film’s maniacal killer.

3 Words to Describe this Movie

funny, atypical, and evocative

This was such a fun film to watch. I loved Taissa Farmiga as the main role, and I think all other actors did so well. It was entertaining, but it also made you really care for the characters and what happened to them. The comedy wasn’t raunchy – it actually made me laugh, and there was a good balance among the comedy, the drama, and the horror.

Recommend to

People who love comedy-horror! Even if you get scared easily, this movie won’t frighten you – it’s similar to the Cabin in the Woods. It also has a great emotional investment between two characters in the story – the daughter and the mother, so if you love characters that grow and not just a bland typical horror story, then this one is for you!

  1. FINALLY! SOMEONE ELSE THAT’S SEEN THIS MOVIE! I was really surprised by the lack of advertising that this had considering there’s quite a few decently-known actors in it (Nina Dorev and Kate Hudson!) but I genuinely really liked this. It was a really refreshing film 🙂 Lovely review! x

    1. Yeah! I can’t recall how I heard of this film, I think it was a preview on a dvd, but I never saw advertising on television, billboards, or at the theatres. I never heard anyone talk about it either. So, I think it’s cool that you’ve seen it too, and liked it! 😀
