I’ve made a life timeline here in 2013, and although I did accomplish the majority of my goals, I know I could’ve completed more if I was more intentional and purposeful creating them. I also decided to take a different course in my life, so I’ll be planning my 5 year plan with you guys in another post. I’ll link it as soon as I post it!
If you don’t know already, those who write out their goals are more likely to accomplish them. But, we are taking it one step further. We are not only writing down our goals, but creating SMART goals, and an action plan. This will bring us closer to our dream life and our best selves.
- Write down your dream life and long term goals. This will help us find what kind of direction we are aiming towards. Make sure to be detailed, and include all areas of life that matter to you.
- Write down 1-2 goals in the different life areas that are SMART & POSITIVE. We want to make sure we are not overwhelming ourselves with too much to do. We will end up feeling exhausted before we even get started. SMART & POSITIVE goals are: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely, and they are positive ie. [Lose 10 lbs. and be strong. vs. I will weigh 140 lbs in 4 months and be able to squat 80lbs.] [I will stop eating processed food vs. I will increase my intake of vegetables and fruits to 6 servings per day.]
- Write down your action plan for each goal. This will need to be done on a separate piece of paper, so you can be detailed, and include every step you need to take.
- Create your timeline. Take your goals and place them on the timeline to get a visual.
