“Long ago, when I was struggling to become a writer, a wise older woman once said to me, “What are you willing to give up, in order to have the life you keep saying you want?”
I said, “You’re right — I really need to start learning how to say no to things I don’t want to do.”
She corrected me: “No, it’s much harder than that. You need to learn how start saying no to things you DO want to do, with the recognition that you have only one life, and you don’t have time and energy for everything.”
I was reading bemorewithless.com’s blog post, and it made me realize that I’ve been piling so much on my plate. I juggle two jobs, a blog, a boyfriend, friends, yoga, meditation, journaling, jiu jitsu, and weight training. And, I’m drowning in the never ending to do list of day to day life. Doing so much is actually disabling me from moving forward and reaching my goals. I know many of us have envisioned a life for ourselves. We are not only dreamers, but go-getters. And, to be at a standstill is no option for us. So, it’s time for us to start prioritizing what’s important for us NOW, so that we can reach the next chapter in our lives.
So, grab your journal, a pen, and some tea, and let’s start figuring out what we need to do to get where we want to be.

Let’s reduce and simplify your life to make room for what matters.
- What is holding you back?
- What can you cut from your life that you don’t want that isn’t helping you reach your goals or from becoming the person you strive to be?
- What do you want to continue to do, but that you can put on hold or the back burner for now?
Let’s focus on what we need to do now.
- What are your priorities? (ie. first priority is family, second is career, third, etc.)
- What do you need to do now to reach where you want to be?
Update from me.
So, now, that I’ve helped you on your journey, I need to be honest about mine. I love blogging. I can be creative and live out my lifelong goal, which is to help people become their best self. But, in order to reach new heights in that goal, blogging is one of the areas in my life that I have to put on hold. It is definitely not something I’m giving up, but if I want to reach more readers and become more of an influence, I have to create a strong foundation. My time will be allocated towards gaining more clients, earning more money, and becoming a nurse. So, you’ll still see my posts, but infrequently. I greatly appreciate all of you who take the time to read and comment. I also will continue to read your posts and comment as much as I possibly can!
Who do you want to become, and what do you need to sacrifice for now in order to achieve your future you? Let me know in the comment section!
xx Natalie

I must admit I feel about my blog the similar way for a while now.
I know I want to continue blogging because I genuinely love it but there are also things in my life I need to work on more in order to make my blog better.
I think I need to focus on my current job, taking care of my friends and family more and keep working on ideas that will eventually come to life. xx

Kate, exactly! Yes, I feel like if we focus on our lives, we can become better bloggers and share our experiences that’ll help others, or at least let our brains absorb some creative juices from our day to day life. Thank you for sharing!
